How do I access my spouse's report?

Due to identity theft concerns and respect for individual privacy, Chex Systems, Inc. is required by law to only deal directly with the individual. And as such, even parents/guardians and family members are not entitled to another individual's report.

However, exceptions can be made with a legal and notarized Power of Attorney and with specific written instructions that are signed by the individual allowing only the person providing the Power of Attorney access to their file.

If you're looking for a Power of Attorney form, you can request a form from a notary, attorney, or find one online.

How can I stop getting so many pre-approval letters from credit card companies?

Believe it or not, you can control the amount of junk mail, especially pre-approved credit offers with one call. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allows companies to mail you offers based on your credit score. Therefore, the average household receives over 1,000 unsolicited offers for credit cards, loans, and insurance in an average year!

To help save the environment, protect yourself from the possibility of identity theft, and more importantly, your sanity, you may "opt-out" of these offers. By doing so, it will prevent third-party companies who you have not given permission to look-up your credit score and send you junk mail.

To get started, call the FCRA at 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688). You may also opt-out with Chex Systems, Inc. at 1-877-OPT-OUT-5 (1-877-678-6885).
